Review: Kitchen Dining Experience at CUT by Wolfgang Puck

Bahrain Confidential embarks on a unique dining experience at CUT by Wolfgang Puck.

Four Seasons’ “Take Your Time” campaign was something we have heard so much about but had yet to experience. So when an opportunity arose to try a unique “Daily Discovery” at Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay, we were super excited.

We came to CUT by Wolfgang Puck to indulge in the “Kitchen Dining Experience”, one of the hotel’s daily discoveries. The concept provides a rare glimpse of “the works”, bringing an added dimension and immersive experience to both the visitors and the team.

While the restaurant leans more towards a more formal fine dining, the kitchen’s atmosphere was very energetic, vibrant and unfussy.

The same is true with its charismatic Executive Chef Brian Becher, who is passionate about his mission to redefine guest experience into a new level.

Our starter: fresh Italian burrata with apple, white grapes, cilantro gel and apple ponzu. The sauce had had a subtle tang and sweetness that worked beautifully with the burrata, which was wonderfully light and beautifully presented. Then, we had the “De Cecco Riso Carnaroli” or saffron risotto with braised veal cheeks and micro green salad. The veal was deliciously tender and fell apart beautifully on our forks!

Our next dish – ‘Pan Seared Loup de Mere’ with grilled leeks, sunchokes, cauliflower puree and kombu butter – was the star of an already brilliant show. The sea bass’ skin was crisp, the puree was suitably light and the leeks completed the mouthful perfectly. Next, we had the Australian Wagyu tenderloin with fondant potato, caramelised shallots, truffle and aged beef jus. Our final dish was the Chocolate & Yuzu which was a creative plate of different textures and tastes.

Throughout the meal, the dishes arrived in perfect succession. One thing they got absolutely right at CUT was the timing between courses. The setup added to the appeal and built excitement throughout the evening.

As we ate, we asked Chef Brian what makes the experience exciting for him as a chef. “It’s an opportunity to meet new people, connect with the guests and engage with my team. It is also a learning process as we come across new things with each experience”, he said.

By now we hope that you’re getting the picture: interactive dining, fresh ingredients, vibrant flavours, and dishes cooked with élan by CUT’s outstanding team. On the other hand, the service was faultless and the personalised experience was impeccable.

The experience was definitely a feast for the senses – perhaps we’re biased because each visit at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay has been remarkable, but this may possibly one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. With that, we’ve discovered that there’s no better way to “take your time” in Bahrain than to try a kitchen dining experience at CUT!
