Tamer Farouk’s team at Hilton Bahrain is rallying to promote purpose-driven hospitality, one that is focused on sustainability and protecting the environment.

Global warming is a concern for humanity at large. It affects every living being on Earth and calls for responsible measures to reduce carbon footprint. While citizens across the world adopt lifestyle changes that reduce their burden on the planet, tourists are increasingly becoming conscious about travelling responsibly and with an appreciation for the environment.

It’s become imperative for the hospitality sector to adopt sustainable practices as well. Sustainability is no longer just a buzzword; for hotels, it’s a purpose to alleviate their carbon footprint, making their establishments greener.

For Tamer Farouk, General Manager, Hilton Bahrain, hospitality leadership presents the opportunity to make an impact on society. While driving growth, supporting tourism, and offering guests an ideal stay, he believes in championing social and environmental causes that highlight development and bring a certain joy to the operations of a full-service five-star hotel.

“We believe that every action we take, no matter how small, can make a difference in preserving our planet for future generations. We are committed to implementing sustainable practices in all aspects of our operations. Our hope is to inspire and help the community to embrace sustainability as a way of life and work together towards a more sustainable future.”

Hilton Bahrain’s sustainable practices through community-driven initiatives deserve a shout-out! The hotel’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint echo the team’s commitment to sustainability and they show it in more ways than one.

The 45-story Hilton Bahrain, which opened its doors in August 2022, is a pet-friendly, upscale residential property providing short and extended stays for guests travelling into Bahrain or looking for a weekend getaway. Overlooking one of the two seas, the property, while offering a splendid view, gives guests an opportunity to explore Bahrain. Located in the heart of Manama, the hotel is a short drive away from attractions like Bab Al Bahrain (Manama Souq), Al Fateh Grand Mosque, Bahrain City Centre, and the World Trade Centre.

One of the hotel’s most significant sustainability initiatives is the smart garden, initiated by Executive Chef Ravneet Manchanda. The garden provides fresh herbs and produces that are used in the hotel’s culinary offerings. This promotes conscious food transportation while promoting healthy and locally-sourced food.

From local produce, and a zero single-use plastic policy to using recycled materials in the staff’s uniforms (including their footwear), and supporting local organisations that promote environment-friendly initiatives, the hotel places a strong focus on sustainability.

“We are a proud supporter of Hilton’s Travel with Purpose—Hilton’s economic, social and governance strategy to drive responsible travel and tourism. It is our goal to be a champion when it comes to sustainability and environmental activism in the hospitality industry in Bahrain.”
