Bahrain to Host First-Ever Virtual Race Series, “Together Apart”

Obai & Hill will be hosting the First-Ever Virtual Race Series in the Kingdom of Bahrain under the campaign titled “Together Apart” in September 2020. The race is powered by Gold Sponsors, Tamimi Markets which is one of the fastest-growing supermarket chains in Saudi Arabia that has recently expanded to the Kingdom of Bahrain at Mall of Dilmunia.

The Together Apart Virtual Race Series is a community-driven initiative that focuses on bringing together the local community in the new normal. Despite the distance, this initiative will encourage the local community to still remain socially connected. The event’s objectives center around hosting a virtual race that displays solidarity even through physical distancing, promoting a healthy active lifestyle during this time and bringing together an active community by connecting virtually over a common appreciation for a fitter future. This initiative presents a great opportunity to get back into shape and train, after the sweltering summer heat passes by. It also enables parents to get their kids to work out, train and safely spend time outdoors with purpose.

In his statement on this occasion, His Excellency the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs said, “We seek in the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs to enter into strategic cooperation with various entities to support the youth and sports movement in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which is in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, National Security Adviser and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, joining forces to organize and launch pioneering youth initiatives that contributes to maximize  the role of youth and develop  their different skills

His Excellency Mr. Ayman Bin Tawfeeq Al-Moayed also said that, distanced “Virtual races” have become an important reality in the current period and have become amongst the most popular races by youth, representing an important aspect of remote competition, and we in the ministry were keen on strategic cooperation to organize this race based on the importance of encouraging individuals to play sports from wherever they are, raising awareness of the importance of sports, and adopting healthy lifestyles patterns locally.

His Excellency Mr. Ayman Bin Tawfeeq Al-Moayed also invited the youth in the Kingdom, to participate and maximize their role in the distanced virtual races, praising the cooperation with Obai & Hill company to organize this important race.

This race series will set Bahrain to be a pilot for all the GCC countries setting an example to follow nationwide and expand its mission regionally. The race series is spread across 3 weekends in September 2020, Saturday 5th, 12th and 19th September. The races cater to Adults and Kids. The Adult Race series is split into 5,10 and 15 kilometers whilst the Kids Race series is split into 200, 250 and 300 meters. Registered participants can race at anytime and anywhere across the Kingdom whilst adopting the necessary COVID-19 guidelines of a maximum 2 person physically distanced run. Each participant would receive a Race Kit delivered to the comfort of their home which includes a bib, snacks and a medal. They will also be receiving special perks from a range of Community Partners and sponsors that have come together to support this initiative. To compete all participants will be required to use the Strava App to track their run. To monitor the race results, participants will need to submit their results (summary of their workout) via a screenshot from the Strava App to the organisers for analysis. Winners will be identified and announced on Instagram Live. The race is now open to registration with limited slots available!
