The Ritz Carlton Bahrain hosted the vibrant opening ceremony of the 9th Inter-hotel Charity Cricket Tournament on 14 April, 2024. The evening was filled with excitement and camaraderie as 31 teams, along with their muses, came together to kick off the charitable sporting event.
The event commenced with a colourful parade showcasing the participating teams, each accompanied by their muses, creating a lively and festive atmosphere. The audience was treated to a visual spectacle as the teams proudly marched onto the field.
Awais Rafiq, the Financial Controller at The Ritz Carlton Bahrain and the cricket tournament’s Chairperson, delivered a heartfelt welcome address, emphasizing the spirit of unity and sportsmanship that defines the tournament. Following the welcome remarks, the Best Muse and Darling of the Crowd awards were presented to the deserving winners.
The tournament was officially inaugurated by Awais Rafiq and William Fily, Director of Food and Beverage with the symbolic batting of the ‘ball of fire,’ signalling the commencement of the competitive matches ahead. The tournament aims to raise over BHD 3500 for the Abdulrahman Kanoo Social Parents Club. The club has been chosen as the charity partner for this cause.
Throughout the tournament, five matches will be played each day, culminating in an exciting finale in the first week of May. The event promises not only thrilling cricket action but also a platform to support a worthy cause and make a positive impact on the community.
The title of Best Muse was awarded to Nada Zine El Abidine from Trader Vic’s, while Joan Marie from Wyndham Grand stole the hearts of the crowd and was honoured with the Darling of the Crowd award.
