Ukrainian national, Kyrylo Ostavenenko has been appointed as the new Bars Manager at the InterContinental Regency Bahrain, where he will oversee the bar operations of Downtown Bar, Elements Pool & Bar, the Regency Pool Bar, as well as further enhancing the strong wine pairing concept in Legendz Steak House.
Kyrylo’s first career aspiration was in the Engineering field, in which he graduated from the Highway University in Ukraine. Whilst working towards completing his degree in engineering, he was exposed to the Food and Beverage service industry. Nights spent in upmarket venues as a bartender and even a bit of stand-up comedy, saw him develop a passion for this vibrant industry.
From around 2011, a renewed interest in cultivating people’s love for wine and food pairing led him to a path of becoming a Cavista in the Rockfor wine bar in Kharki, Ukraine. Three years later, he became the Head Sommelier at the luxury wine boutique, Invino.
His knowledge of mixology, cocktail creation and good understanding of spirits, was further advanced when joining the shores of Bahrain in 2016. He increased his skill and know-how by observing and following a number of mentors in the local elite beverage service venues, for which he remains very thankful. His tenure in Bahrain includes experience in a few of the country’s signature venues.
The InterContinental Regency Bahrain is excited to welcome Kyrylo in the lead of the eminent transformation of our Downtown Bar. Besides his aim to produce a brand new food and beverage offering in this well-established venue, his mantra “People come to people”, will provide the competitive edge in the Bahraini market. His dream is to create a “Speak Easy” venue in a lounge style set-up, where likeminded people from all walks of life, will come together and have a great time in a classy setting.
