“I am very happy to be here – beautiful nature, beautiful sea, and most importantly, beautiful people.” Cuneyt Asan is revered as the master chef of meat and steak in the region. The founder of Günaydın, a popular steakhouse chain visited Bahrain this year and over the course of two days, we witnessed his incredible energy in the kitchen, enjoyed the delicious spread he served, and even learned a little about the beginnings of the steakhouse.
“Hunger inspires me. I was on the streets and needed to earn some money. The first butcher I met took pity on my situation and hired me. That’s how I started as a butcher,” Asan recalled.
Few experience a transcendental connection to the work they do; Asan is one of them. “I immediately fell in love with my job. The rest is history.” Günaydın today has several branches around the world, starting with Turkiye. In Bahrain, the steakhouse has operated for over a year. Recently, the brand unveiled Oro, a steak and cocktail lounge in the heart of Adliya.
Influencers from around Bahrain joined Cuneyt on his two-day visit, experiencing his craft and indulging in Günaydın and Oro’s delectable offerings.
