The 15th edition of The Bahrain Summer Festival is back with even more fun and exciting activities! This year’s edition will embrace a new identity with its theme taking inspiration from Bahrain’s nature and ancient cultural heritage. From storytelling sessions and summer programs to fun workshops check out the list of activities that will be taking place under week 1 of the festivities!
THE YOUNG ARTISAN: SUMMER PROGRAM
Join us for this edition of the ‘The Young Artisan’ summer program, featuring an array of captivating workshops and programs over a three-week period. Sessions will take place every Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, offering a total of 18 hours of enjoyable learning!

Paint Like a Master with Sh. Dwa AlKhalifa, Mariam Dashti, Karim AlJanobi & Khalid AlAbbas
This workshop will provide a unique opportunity to meet and interact with professional artists: Sh. Dwa Al Khalifa, Khalid Al Abbas, Mariam Dashti, and Karim Al Janobi! Participating children will not only get to watch the artwork on display but also learn various artistic techniques directly from the artist. They will have fun challenges that encourage critical thinking and art appreciation.

The Art of Ebru Workshop
Learn the techniques and tools of Ebru, the traditional Turkish art of marbling, to create your very own personalized artwork using pigment and water. This workshop is presented by artist Yousif Al Aradi.

A Tour Through Crafts
A tour at Al Jasra Crafts Centre, which hosts a number of craftsmen and skilled artisans, highlighting the aesthetic elements of their products while giving the audience an opportunity to see how the craftsmen work in their day-to-day environment.

Inspired by the Place: The Sea
Join an outdoor painting workshop in front of the sea, where participating children draw inspiration from the waterfront and express it on a canvas using acrylic colors. this workshop is presented by artist Ebrahim Al Ghanim in collaboration with sard child’s cultural house.

Mastering Rangeena Delights
Rangeena is a traditional dessert that is famous and loved by all Bahrainis, and it is mainly made using dates or rutab. Participants in this activity will learn how to prepare a delicious Rangeena, accompanied by Chef Bassam Al Alawi.

Inspired by the Place: Writing About the Sea

Storytelling: Searching for Khalaloo
Children will learn about the life cycle of the palm tree through the story “Searching for Khalaloo”. They will engage in solving puzzles that involve rebuilding the parts of a palm tree model. This interactive activity will be presented by architect Nada Fardan.

Island Discovery: Cycling & Kayaking Adventure
Book your spot for a thrilling adventure that combines cycling and kayaking! the journey begins from the Qal’at Al Bahrain site, the ancient harbour and capital of Dilmun, as you cycle through the picturesque farms nearby and experience the beauty of nature as you pedal along to the neighboring island of nurana. Then, embark on a kayaking expedition to explore the traditional fisheries (al-haddrah), and immerse yourself in the stunning surroundings to discover the hidden gems IN the Kingdom in collaboration with kashta tours.

Storytelling: The Heart of Pearl
Experience a nostalgic fairy tale that reflects the meanings of patience, strength, and endurance. Storyteller Mohammed Saleh will take us on a journey with “The Heart of Pearl”, which revolves around a lonely palm tree and a farmer’s care for it until it yields ripe fruits made of pearls, becoming a destination and an inspiring symbol of the deep-rooted Bahraini identity.

Build a Traditional House “Barasti”
Children participating in this workshop will have the opportunity to create a model of a traditional Barasti house after learning about the traditional building methods and the original concepts of sustainable architecture used for centuries. These houses, constructed using different parts of the palm tree, were among the earliest known dwellings to the people of Bahrain in the past.
