If walking more is anywhere on your 2026 agenda, and you’d rather skip the treadmill at the gym, Bahrain’s waterfront walkways are ready for you. Cool weather or warm, an outdoor walk by the water is always a good idea, and the island has plenty of options that come with added benefits: fresh air, green spaces, and water views that genuinely improve your mood.
Here are our favourite walkways around the island, each with its own character and appeal. If we’ve missed your go-to spot, drop us a comment with your recommendations.

Bahrain Bay needs little introduction. For a polished waterfront experience with city lights reflecting off the water, this is your spot. The promenade is well-maintained and attracts both residents and visitors looking for that classic Bahrain bayfront feel. Watch water taxis floating across the bay, or Paddle and kayaking enthusiasts dotting the waters.

Water Garden City sits in the heart of Manama, where the City Beach stretches into a lagoon lined with shops, cafes, and restaurants. The waterfront path gives you options: walk, sit, or stop for a meal while taking in the energy of the water. The musical fountain here is the largest in Bahrain and worth timing your visit around.
Busaiteen Seafront is among Bahrain’s best for families and hangout squads. The walking path is long enough for proper exercise, with play fixtures and a dedicated play area for children along the route. The food truck zone is the real draw here, offering variety that covers most cravings and making it easy to turn a walk into a longer outing.

Dohat Arad Lagoon loops around the scenic lagoon near Arad Fort Beach Park. This 3-kilometre track is flat and accessible, popular with joggers and birdwatchers. Palm trees and benches line the path, making it equally suited to serious cardio or a casual stroll with coffee in hand.

The Lagoon Park Amwaj delivers a complete waterfront experience: cafe culture, casual dining, shopping, and family entertainment options all within reach of the walking path. It’s designed as a community hub where the waterfront is just one element of the bigger picture.

Salman City Beach offers a more peaceful alternative in a residential area. Perfect for morning or evening walks when you want a quieter atmosphere, though it’s important to be mindful of the neighbourhood setting.

The spacious waterfront walkway hosts restaurants like Naseef and Palestine Nights, and the jetty gives you boat access to other waterfront destinations, including Bahrain National Museum, Bahrain Bay and Bahrain Harbour.

The Avenues Boardwalk gives you the classic promenade experience: restaurants on one side, water on the other, with iconic landmarks visible across the lagoon. Whether you’re heading to the mall, checking out the dining options, or simply watching the water, the boardwalk handles all purposes equally well.

Sama Bay in Galali brings beach activities into the mix. Water sports, beach games, and lounging options make it suitable for families, friend groups, or solo visitors seeking a seaside break. It’s more active than pure walking, but the beachfront setting still delivers that coastal atmosphere.

Nurana Island offers open, natural space ideal for walking, with the added benefit of being an excellent spot for evening barbecues or stargazing sessions. It’s one of the lesser developed options, appealing if you prefer a more unstructured outdoor experience.

Each walkway brings something different to the table. Pick based on your mood, your company, and what else you’re after beyond the walk itself.
