This iconic heritage hotel in Muharraq wins two awards!

A restored heritage house and boutique hotel in Muharraq has won the Identity Magazine 2020 Design Award.

The renovated Nuzul Al-Salam, also known as Fathallah House, has also been conferred the Interior Design Award of the Ammar Basheir Creative Studio.

The iconic restored heritage building is an offshoot of the Muharraq-based Shaikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa Centre from Culture and Research.

The Dubai-based Identity Magazine is considered one of the most important specialized publications in the field of design and architecture in the region.

The jury  included this year  India Mahdavi and Gianluca “Bilivo”  and Marco “Beva”, who are considered among the prominent judges in the fields of architecture, engineering and design.

The jury praised the impressive level in which the design of Nuzul Al-Salam, which stands as a prominent landmark of the city of Muharraq, showcasing deep-rooted Bahraini heritage to the world.

The renovated heritage house and boutique hotel has also been embellished with contemporary lines and styles inspired by a different concept from what is found in the region.

Shaikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa Centre from Culture and Researches Board of Trustees Chairperson Shaikh Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa expressed delight at the prize which reflects Bahrain’s rich artistic heritage.

She thanked the United Arab Emirates which supported the renovation of Nuzul Al-Salam that embodies the originality of the unique architectural style in Bahrain.

The restored iconic project is the first fruit of the agreements which were signed at the meeting of the joint high committee between the UAE and the Shaikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa Centre from Culture and Researches.

These include the memorandum of understanding which was signed by the centre and  the UAE Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, marking the centenary of the UAE founding father late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan.
