Bahraini world jiu-jitsu champion, Ali Monfaradi made history at the Birmingham World Games on Saturday! The martial artist bagged the silver medal in the 77-kilogram jiu-jitsu competitions at the games which are being held in Alabama USA.
This is the first time Bahrain has won a medal at the World Games! Ali Monfaradi beat Canada’s Michael Sheehan and later lost the battle for gold when he was beaten by UAE’s Mohammed Al-Amri.
A proud Monfaradi took to his Instagram to share the news, stating, “I put 1000% of my heart into this, and I can give you a thousand decent excuses but you only need to hear one: I came short, but I will do better. Thank you, Bahrain for trusting me, loving me and always supporting me.”
