In just a few days, Bahrain has come together and stood in solidarity with the cause to save Wadi Al Buhair, a 45-million-year-old natural landmark in East Riffa that is being bulldozed for a new mall.
Nearly 1,500 people have signed the petition on change.org tited ‘Save Wadi Al Buhair’ to halt its destruction, since it was created by local geologist @nadineomusic. Nadine shared a post on her Instagram shedding light on what’s happening and shared a brief geological summary of the historical site. The post has gone viral within the Bahraini community and many continue to share her views.
“Although developments have already begun it may not be too late to preserve what is left and make the best out of the situation.” Nadine says in the petition.
Many others have also voiced their concerns and thoughts on social media.
