The middle of the week does not have to mean waiting it out until the weekend. Between Sunday and Wednesday, Bahrain offers plenty of ways to break up the routine, whether you are after a slow evening, a bit of creative downtime, or an excuse to round up friends and do something different.
This guide is for the early or mid-week reset. A few hours to recharge, relax, and reconnect before the days off arrive, and arrive they will! By the end of the week, Bahrain shifts into Eid Al-Adha mode, with celebrations rolling into the long weekend. We will be covering all of that separately, so keep an eye out for our ultimate Eid events guide.
For now, here is what is worth your time from Sunday through Wednesday.
A chance for children to take part in one of Bahrain’s most quietly meaningful folk traditions. Celebrated on the eve of Eid Al Adha, Heya Beya sees children toss small wicker baskets of wheat or barley plants into the sea, a gentle ritual that carries lessons of sacrifice and letting go. This year brings three opportunities across the island to join in.
A relaxed evening meetup for illustrators, creatives, and anyone who likes the idea of drawing with a little prompting. Hosted by Paper Boat Doodle at Alabaster and Cannoli, The Drawing Circle is built around exploring, experimenting, and playing with prompts in good company, no pressure, no polish, just the pleasure of making something. Open to seasoned illustrators and curious first-timers alike.
Relax by the water. Every Tuesday, City Beach opens its doors to ladies with a discounted entrance fee and 25% off watersports, making it an easy excuse to swap the usual routine for a few hours of sun, sea, and something a little more active if the mood strikes.
Ladies Nights at MATRIX
Wednesday nights just got a little more fun for the ladies! MATRIX throws open its doors for a ladies’ midweek escape, the kind of evening built for grabbing your squad and losing track of time across games, attractions, and easy good vibes. Groups of four unlock a few extra perks, making it well worth rallying the girls before you go.
A pop-up gaming experience is taking over The Avenues for most of May. Spend BHD 10 at any store in the mall to unlock access to the free play area, and register online for the weekend tournaments for a chance to win cash prizes and gifts.
