Middle East Film & Comic Con (MEFCC) has revealed the top things for fans to look forward to at this year’s action-packed event. With a spectacular lineup, visitors are in for a ‘super’ weekend at the ninth edition of the region’s favourite pop-culture festival. Running from 5 to 7 March 2020 at the DWTC, MEFCC’s awesome agenda is sure to wow people of all ages and interests.
- Meet your favourite heroes
With one of the most anticipated line-ups of celebrities in MEFCC history. Fans attending this year will get a chance to meet-and-greet celebrity guests including Mena Massoud, the star of Disney’s live-action remake, Aladdin. Guests can grab photos and autographs with Mena and other celebrities including Superman star Brandon Routh, Red Witch Carice Van Houten from Game Of Thrones, femme fatale Electra from Daredevil Elodie Yung, and dwarf warrior Gimli from Lord of the Rings John Rhys-Davies.
The three-day event will provide an opportunity to watch some of the most creative films in the industry. This will also include an international exclusive! Toei Animation and MENA distributor Front Row present the first 5 minutes of the highly anticipated Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna before it hits cinemas later this year as well as two anime screenings by Crunchyroll prior to their release on the platform. Tickets are already on sale with children below the age of five allowed free entry, and AED 50 for children between the ages 6-10.
- Make it an awesome family weekend
Get the family pass and take friends and the kids to watch Onward the weekend of its release at the MEFCC Theatre. Onward is Disney Pixar’s latest animation, about two teenage elf brothers who embark on a quest to discover if there is still magic in their world. That’s not all, you can also watch Cartoon Network exclusives with your little heroes. Bring out the superhero in your little one, have them participate in the Kids’ cosplay competition and enjoy watching your child’s superpowers.

Take home from exciting exclusives from exhibitors at this year’s event including Bandai Namco who will be bringing back an icon in Captain Tsubasa but with an arcade twist. This will be the first time an official Captain Tsubasa game will be released outside of Japan and localised into Arabic. Other exhibitors with eye-catching products to buy include Party Centre, Geek Nation, Otaku ME and much much more.
- Join the cosplay competition!
Every year, cosplayers bring everything they have by suiting up as their favourite comic book heroes, film characters, manga personalities and more. This year fans have a chance to win a trip to Japan and compete in the World Cosplay Summit (WCS) Finals in Nagoya by winning the preliminaries in the UAE.
- Exciting live mainstage entertainment
For the first time this year, celebrities will feature in a panel on the mainstage for fans to enjoy. A full line-up of performers on the mainstage including DJ Trina, the Emirati Japanese Drummer Group, the UAE’s local comedy pioneers, Dubomedy and many more.
- More workshops
For the pop culture enthusiasts who are looking to develop their skills can join the MEFCC workshops from world-renowned artists and talent who have worked with the biggest names in the business including Marvel, DC Comics and Disney. These workshops will be hosted by the likes of Sam De La Rosa who has worked on Spiderman and Venom, Jeremy Clark who has worked on The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, D. Michael Watkins who has worked on Iron Man and Transformers, Mostafa Moussa who has worked on Godzilla and Batman and many more!
- Explore the Artist’s Alley
See and support international and regional publishers and artists display of exclusives, sketches, and art that can also be purchased by fans. Fans can expect to see work by Nightwing’s Warren Louw, Black Condor’s Rag Morales, Iron Man’s Bob Layton and many more.

For the first time, fans attending will also get an opportunity to plan a staycation with friends or family during Comic Con weekend.
