It’s officially been one year since the Sheraton Bahrain Hotel unveiled its massive transformation. On 19 December 2024, the hotel opened its doors and rejoined the hospitality scene, having quietly and stylishly made a return among the most talked-about social hubs.
Walking into the new Sheraton Bahrain feels like entering a masterclass of architectural storytelling. This project has not simply aimed to renovate the existing structure, but to reinvent it entirely, encapsulating the famous warmth of Bahraini hospitality, giving it a high-fashion makeover.
For many in Bahrain, who grew up with the Sheraton as the backdrop to their childhood memories, the sense of nostalgia is palpable, yet it’s presented through a lens of sophisticated, futuristic design. It’s a vibrant, welcoming environment where the heritage of the past and the energy of the modern world don’t just meet, they celebrate one another.
If you’ve been following the Manama food scene over the last twelve months, you’ve likely heard about the hotel’s culinary pivot. While the Golestan Persian Grill remains a steady favourite for its authentic heritage, the newer concepts are what have people talking.
WILD Restaurant has become one of those “it” spots for Friday brunch. This plant-based, social dining restaurant is an original, fresh concept. They have their own hydroponic garden right on-site, one of the largest in Bahrain, so the herbs and greens on your plate are as local as it gets.
Brasero Atlántico marked the major Q2 highlight of the year. Located on the rooftop, this Argentinian-inspired eatery captures the essence of dinner with a view, where the menu is seriously focused on wood grill offerings in a setting designed around a spectacular view of the Manama skyline.
The guest experience has also undergone a significant transformation with an emphasis on functionality. It currently has 210 rooms and suites, which go from the “Signature Rooms” to the luxurious “Diplomatic & Presidential Suites.” A modern but warm design language – think clean lines and cutting-edge functionality without compromising comfort. Those who prefer something a little more exclusive will appreciate the Sheraton Club Lounge, now also serving as a workplace and retreat for guests staying within the 41 Club Rooms.
The Sheraton has always been a go-to for major gatherings since the opening of the property, and that hasn’t changed. The Al Taj Grand Ballroom remains one of the largest in the city (over 1,000 sqm), making it a powerhouse for weddings and conferences.
But it’s the lifestyle additions that are giving people a reason to visit the landmark over the weekend. With the Shine Spa offering six dedicated treatment rooms and the renewed Sheraton Fitness centre that features a ladies’ only gym area, health and wellness are certainly being incorporated. Also for the sporty crowd, the padel courts have become a major draw for locals looking for a quick game before heading to the pool.
