The Pearl Museum at Siyadi Majlis, located at the Pearling Path in Muharraq, has been awarded Best New Museum at the Monocle Magazine’s Design Awards. The museum, designed by Dutch architect Anne Holtrop, was chosen among 50 designs for this year’s award.
Siyadi Majlis was the scene of negotiations over special pearl collections. Grand pearl merchants received buyers from as far as India and Europe.
This marks the fourth edition of the magazine’s awards, which celebrate creative works from around the world in the fields of construction, architecture, restoration, and production.
Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities released a statement that this recognition is a tribute to urban beauty and cultural values represented by the museum and the Pearling Path site, affirming that it reflects the Authority’s continuous commitment and efforts to preserve Bahrain’s history, heritage, and culture, and to enhance its status as a leading centre for archaeological preservation, restoration, and sustainable development.
