Beautiful beaches, laid-back vibe, and delicious food… if you’re planning a trip to Thailand, you may be able to visit the Southeast Asian country Visa-Free! The Thai government has announced that nationals from 93 countries (including Bahrain) can travel with a 60-day visa exemption. The exemption may also be extended for up to 30 days.
Thailand has issued 4 new visa measures for travellers, effective from 15th July. The 60-day visa exemption allows travellers to visit Thailand for tourism, business, or ad-hoc work.
31 countries have also been granted the Visa on Arrival benefit for tourists. This may be applied for a stay of 15 days (single entry) and costs 2,000 Baht.
Another measure is the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) which is for remote workers, digital nomads or freelancers. Participants of Muay Thai courses, Thai cooking classes, sport training, medical treatments, seminars and music festivals may also apply for a DTV. Spouses and dependent children of a DTV holder are eligible to enter the country as well. The DTV is valid for a 180-day stay. However, the visa is valid for 5 years, allowing for multiple entry to the country. A DTV costs 10,000 Baht. Anyone looking for a DTV can apply here.
The fourth measure is the Non Ed-Plus Visa. This facilitates international students studying at a Thai university at the bachelor’s level or above. With this visa, foreign students are exempt from requiring a re-entry permit to depart and re-enter the country during the period of study. The visa can be extended through applications submitted by the university on the student’s behalf. Students can also extend their stay for up to 1 year for purposes such as employment. Once employed, a student can move to a different type of visa.
