TEDxDilmun is making its debut on 22 November, bringing together voices from across the region and beyond to explore a question that feels more relevant than ever: how do ideas actually bring us closer together?
Dilmun, that ancient crossroads of civilisations, has always been about connection. It was where cultures met, where trade flourished, where different worlds came together and created something new. TEDxDilmun picks up that thread and runs with it, creating a space where ideas can do what they’ve always done best: spark conversation, challenge perspectives, and remind us what we’re capable of when we actually listen to each other.
This year’s theme is EDGE: Explore, Discover, Grow, Engage. Think of it as an invitation to step outside your comfort zone and find what’s waiting there, whether that’s resilience, purpose, or something you didn’t even know you were looking for.
The speaker lineup is diverse and interesting. His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Her Excellency Fatima Jaafar Al Sairafi (Minister of Tourism) will both be taking the stage, sharing insights on leadership that go beyond the usual buzzwords to focus on what really matters: endurance and compassion.
Behind it all is Soraya Sarif, the event’s curator and licensee. With over 20 years of experience connecting Canada and the Gulf, she’s someone who understands how ideas travel and transform across cultures. “TEDxDilmun isn’t about ideas in isolation,” she explains. “It’s about ideas that live and breathe in community. Dilmun’s legacy reminds us that progress happens when we come together, across generations, sectors, and cultures, to imagine what’s possible.”
Beyond the talks, expect thought-provoking performances and immersive experiences designed to get you thinking differently. This isn’t just another conference. It’s a platform for the conversations we should be having, the kind that push us forward while keeping humanity firmly at the centre.
