It’s official: Elon Musk’s Starlink internet service is now live in the Kingdom of Bahrain, marking yet another major milestone for the region as well as Musk’s SpaceX. After successful rollouts in Oman and Jordan earlier this year, Bahrain joins the growing network of countries tapping into the power of Starlink satellites.
Backed by Musk’s aerospace company SpaceX, Starlink Internet is rapidly expanding across the Middle East and North Africa. With Qatar and Yemen already online and Kuwait expected to join in 2025, the momentum is clear—the region is setting the stage for a new era of connectivity.
Bahrain’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) first issued Starlink a licence back in 2022 to provide satellite communication services within the Kingdom and beyond.
Starlink offers high-speed internet that’s powered by a vast constellation of low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, over 7,100 and counting, it delivers broadband coverage that isn’t tied to ground-based infrastructure. These satellites orbit between 200 km and 2,000 km above Earth, much closer to us than the Hubble Space Telescope (547 km) or even the International Space Station (408 km), which helps significantly reduce latency.
This simply means faster internet, fewer delays, and broader reach (even if you’re far from a cell tower).
Unlike traditional fibre-optic services that rely on physical cables and infrastructure, Starlink’s internet offers fast, stable, and low-latency broadband directly from the sky. This makes it ideal not just for homes and offices, but also for mobile sectors like aviation, maritime, and remote industries that demand consistent connectivity on the move.
Bahrain isn’t alone in this space-age shift. Saudi Arabia is reportedly gearing up for Starlink’s rollout as well, though it’s expected to begin within aviation and maritime sectors, offering improved inflight internet and offshore connectivity. The UAE is also in line but remains pending regulatory approval, as per reports.
As Bahrain pushes forward with its Vision 2030 goals, technology and innovation remain at the heart of national progress. The arrival of Starlink satellites in the Kingdom is a strategic step that could reshape access to the internet for many on the island.
From improving digital infrastructure in remote areas to enabling advanced connectivity for businesses at sea or in the air, the benefits of Starlink internet go beyond fast downloads and smooth video calls. It opens doors for smarter logistics, education, emergency services, and a more inclusive digital economy.
For digital nomads, remote workers, maritime businesses, or simply anyone who wants reliable internet while off the beaten path, Starlink could prove to be a practical solution.
Whether you’re streaming a movie in Manama or cruising offshore, Starlink ensures that the sky is no longer the limit, it’s the solution. With Bahrain now officially on the Starlink map, the Kingdom is firmly planted in the orbit of cutting-edge connectivity.
