Spring of Culture has returned with a vibrant season filled with art, heritage, and creativity. Since its inception in 2006, the festival has become a prominent platform for cultural exchange, connecting global cultures in one location. It not only highlights Bahrain’s cultural institutions and heritage sites but also emphasises the importance of preserving cultural heritage for future generations. This year, the festival continues its mission of fostering community collaboration in the celebration and preservation of Bahrain’s rich traditions.

As part of this year’s festivities, a series of exciting events, workshops, and activities will take place, offering something for everyone. From hands-on workshops to captivating performances, these events provide a unique opportunity to explore Bahrain’s cultural treasures.

Botanical Dye Workshop

An exciting journey into the world of botanical dyeing awaits. Participants will learn how to bundle dye using flower petals, plants, and food waste through a natural and intuitive process. Marie will guide them through the steps of mordanting, discuss various fabrics, and explore the textures and patterns that can be created with natural resources.

Basics of The Improvisation Theater

Join The Impro Teatro, a leading improvisation theatre in Bahrain and the region, for a fun and engaging workshop presented by Ahmed Khalifa (Director and Trainer, The Impro Teatro). In this workshop, you will learn the essential skills in improvisational theatre including character building, associating ideas, building relationships and spontaneous storytelling without preparation.

On The Edge of a Crushing Cliff

Artist, Hussein Al Mohasen’s recent artwork explores the relationship between cerebral experiences and poetic language, using texture and vibrant colours to create a palpable geographic landscape. The work aims to convey feelings of peace and humanity through a different perspective.

Kid Francescoli

French band of electro-pop music, Kid Francescoli has more than 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify. He has composed soundtracks for prestigious luxury brand ads (Lancôme, Chanel, Lacoste…) and famous TV series (notably “Emily in Paris”). Watch him live at this event hosted in collaboration with The Embassy of France.

Dead People Sleep in Our Dreams – a Lecture

Qassim Haddad, born in Muharraq, is one of the most important poetic voices in the Arabian Gulf. He began his literary career in the 1960s and contributed to the founding of the “Writers and Authors Association” in Bahrain in 1969. His poetry is known for its innovation in style and expression, addressing themes of freedom, love, and humanity with artistic abstraction, blending Arabic poetic heritage with modern poetic trends.

Professional Video and Editing on Phone

Al Jasra Handicrafts Center is organising a workshop on Professional Video Editing on Mobile.  This workshop aims to teach and train you on taking professional videos using your smartphone, through studied theoretical material and various practical applications inside the studio and abroad.

Bakhoor & Perfume Making

Al Jasra Crafts Centre organises a Bakhoor and Perfume Making Workshop. This craft relies on mixing natural and synthetic materials with beautiful scents in precise proportions to obtain a distinctive perfume. Bakhoor has many forms and different blends, and its uses vary around the world. While in some parts of the Arab world, Bakhoor is used as a generous gesture for guests, it is used in religious rituals in some regions of Asia.

Bahrain National Museum Tales

An interactive tour tailored for those interested in architecture and cultural heritage, where a group of experts shares the history of the Bahrain National Museum and the behind-the-scenes story of its creation in the 1980s. The tour includes photos and visuals from the various stages of construction and a special architectural tour through the museum, one of the oldest established museums in the Arabian Gulf.

Pianotainment

In collaboration with the German Embassy in Bahrain, Pianotainment returns with concert pianists, Stephan Weh and Marcel Dorn. ‬This unique four-handed piano show has captivated audiences worldwide for over 20‭ ‬years‭, blending piano comedy with exceptional virtuosity‭. ‬Perfect for all ages‭, ‬this award-winning performance promises a one-of-a-kind‭, ‬entertaining experience – not to be missed‭.‬

Omar Khairat & The Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra Led by Maestro Mubarak Najem

Shooting to fame with his acclaimed score for the movie Lailat Al-Qabd Ala Fatma (The Night They Arrested Fatima), Omar Khairat will mesmerise you with his unique blend of classical and contemporary sounds. His remarkable talent extends beyond the screen, with genres including jazz, pop, rock & many ballet scores that have graced the stages of prestigious theatres globally, making him one of the most influential composers of modern times. Omar is joined by the renowned Bahraini Maestro Dr. Mubarak Najem, conducting the Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra.

Al Jasra Handicrafts Center is organising a Plam Tree Care Workshop.  The palm tree is rooted in the history of Bahrain for thousands of years, making it greatly important to the agricultural community in Bahrain.

Photos À La Chair

Photos à la Chair is a monthly public art gathering in Bahrain organised by Camille Zakharia and Ali Karimi. Founded in 2017, the event is a three-hour photoshoot that aims to bring art and the community together in a public setting. Each session features a different artist, location and bench. There have been 24 sessions over the course of the past 7 years, with over a hundred collaborators and more than a thousand attendees.

Al Bait is a weekend event that invites everyone, including artists, creatives, youth, and families. Hosted by Al Riwaq, this gathering highlights young talents, offering them a platform to showcase their work through an Art and Design Market, exhibitions, and Open Mic performance opportunities.
