Sumit Jassal brings over two decades of global hospitality experience to his role as Group General Manager of Ramee Hotels – Bahrain. With a career spanning renowned hotel brands across Europe, India, and the Middle East—including the UAE, Qatar, Jordan, and Lebanon—Sumit has built a reputation for operational excellence, guest satisfaction, and team development.
Now overseeing multiple properties in Bahrain, he leads one of the Kingdom’s dynamic hospitality groups, including the flagship Ramee Grand Hotel and Spa. Located in the heart of Manama, the trendy five-star hotel is known for its expansive suites, diverse dining outlets like the award-winning Ruka, and newly launched Cavo Rooftop Lounge.
Sumit dives into this conversation to uncover his leadership vision, his thoughts about the evolving hospitality landscape in Bahrain, and what’s next for the Ramee Group.
What truly inspired me to take on the leadership role at Ramee Group was the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across multiple properties under the Ramee Group umbrella in Bahrain. With over two decades in the hospitality industry, I’ve always thrived in environments that challenge me to elevate standards, inspire teams, and create unforgettable guest experiences. Ramee Group, with its strong presence in Seef for more than 10 years and potential for further excellence, presented the perfect platform.
Benchmarking success, for me, goes beyond hotel occupancy rates or revenue metrics—though those are, of course, critical. I gauge success by how consistently we deliver exceptional guest satisfaction, by the motivation and growth of our team members, and by how we position ourselves competitively in the market. My goal is to build a culture of operational excellence and innovation while ensuring we are recognised as the leading hospitality group in Bahrain, both in service and quality.
Ramee Grand Hotel and Spa, Seef stands out for its multiple food and beverage offerings under one roof, some of the largest rooms and suites in Bahrain, and, of course, personalised service. Our central location, diverse dining options, and world-class spa create a unique experience, but it’s our passionate team and attention to detail that truly set us apart.
One key lesson is that people—both guests and team members—are at the heart of hospitality. Listening, adapting quickly, and maintaining consistency are crucial. Bahrain’s market also taught me the value of cultural sensitivity and the importance of building strong local relationships.
Bahrain offers great growth potential with its tourism strategy and prime location. However, the sector faces challenges, including heightened regional competition, a shortage of skilled hospitality professionals, and the need to adapt to evolving traveller preferences. Addressing these challenges through staff training, unique service offerings, and sustainable practices will be key to capitalising on Bahrain’s hospitality opportunities.
We are thrilled about the recent grand opening of CAVO Rooftop Lounge on 1st April. Guests can immerse themselves in a world of glamour and sophistication, surrounded by the island’s crème de la crème, as they revel in the finest music and entertainment. The open-air poolside setting at Cavo also offers one of the city’s most exclusive venues. Additionally, we have a lineup of exciting events and enhancements planned to further elevate the guest experience at Ramee Grand Hotel & Spa, Seef.
