Bahrain’s national digital platform has stepped it up for Ramadan. The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) has introduced a suite of dedicated eServices and new features on the MyGov app, designed to make navigating the holy month simpler and more streamlined. Instead of switching between multiple platforms, users can now access essential services in one place, staying connected to the season’s routines with greater ease and efficiency.
Perhaps the most significant addition this Ramadan is the Adhan sound notification – reminding you of the prayer timings in Bahrain. Your feedback was heard! This feature came directly from public requests submitted through the Tawasul system and the iGA’s social media channels.
Activating it is straightforward. Open the MyGov app, head to prayer timings on the home page, then tap into Adhan’s settings. From there, you can customise the feature to suit your preferences, whether you want notifications for all five prayers or just specific ones. It is a small addition that makes a meaningful difference to your daily routine during Ramadan.
Another one of the genuinely useful features on the app is the ability to locate Ramadan majlis across Bahrain’s governorates. If you are new to the country, hosting guests, or simply want to explore the community gatherings happening around you, this is a handy tool to have in your pocket. The listings cover all governorates, so whether you are in the Capital, Muharraq, Northern, or Southern region, you should be able to find something close by.
The iGA has worked with the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments to bring a comprehensive set of faith-focused services into one place. Through the MyGov app, you can now access all of the following:
Paying Zakat and making charitable donations is a significant one, giving users a secure and straightforward way to fulfil this pillar of Ramadan digitally. Beyond that, the app lets you locate mosques by governorate, find the Qibla direction, track the daily moon phase, and consult both the Gregorian and Hijri calendars. Having all of this in a single app, rather than searching across separate platforms, is a genuine convenience.
Available directly from the app’s home page, the Fa’el Khair service has been introduced in coordination with the Ministry of Interior. This initiative supports charitable giving and community goodwill during the holy month, in keeping with the spirit of Ramadan. Look for it on the main screen when you open the app.
To use all of these features, you will need to make sure your MyGov app is up to date. The quickest way to do this is to visit the eGovernment Apps Store at bahrain.bh/apps. Alternatively, update through the App Store on iOS, Google Play on Android, or the Huawei AppGallery, depending on your device.
If the app is already installed, check your app store for any pending updates and install the latest version. New features sometimes do not appear until you have refreshed to the current release.
The Government Services Contact Centre is available on 80008001 if you have questions about any of the MyGov services. You can also submit suggestions or feedback through the Tawasul national suggestions and complaints system, either online or through the Tawasul mobile app.
