What makes the pre-season testing unmissable? Find out here.
Bahrain will set the tone for 2026’s Formula 1 season! As teams gear up for a year of new regulations and possible driver shifts, the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) will host not one, but two of the three official tests ahead of the season opener in Australia.
After the 2025 season ends in Abu Dhabi this December, the pre-season testing will kick off with a private session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from 26 to 30 January.
After that, the action will shift to Bahrain, where Test 2 takes place from 11 to 13 February, followed by Test 3 from 18 to 20 February. The season officially begins in Australia from 06 to 08 March.
For those wondering when they’ll get to witness “duels in the desert”, the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix 2026 will take place from 10 to 12 April 2026.

Pre-season testing is where the season begins to take shape. Teams unveil their latest cars on the track, assess reliability, and gather crucial performance data. With just 24 hours of testing time allowed per team and only one car permitted on track at any given moment, every lap is significant.
This is also the first opportunity to see how new car designs perform on track. Engineers collect real-time data to compare with simulations, while drivers use the sessions to familiarise themselves with new machines and refine their setup. It’s an essential step in preparing for the high-stakes season ahead.
If you’re in Bahrain or travelling to the island, we recommend checking out the pre-season testing at the Home of Motorsports in the Middle East – AKA – the Bahrain International Circuit.
F1 TV Pro also offers live coverage across devices, along with in-depth analysis, highlights and full replays. Viewers in Bahrain may also be able to catch the action on beIN Sports.
F1.com will provide daily live blogs, live timing and expert commentary throughout the testing period.
According to F1.com, spectators can expect to see aerodynamic testing tools like flow-vis paint and sensor-covered aero rakes. These are used to verify how the car performs aerodynamically in real conditions.
Car updates and performance levels during testing often stay under wraps, with some teams choosing to debut major upgrades between the final test and the first race.
Mileage is important, but it doesn’t tell the full story. Some teams focus on endurance and data gathering, while others keep their performance cards close to their chest. What you see in Bahrain may not be what lines up on the grid in Melbourne.
While pre-season testing is a more technical affair for fans than the main Grand Prix weekend, the Bahrain International Circuit will still deliver a memorable experience for visitors. Here’s what fans got to enjoy during the 2025 pre-season testing:
