It takes an extraordinary leader with a hunger for innovation and a passion for improvement to lead a dynamic team in the world of hospitality. At Hilton Bahrain, Tamer Farouk works tirelessly to empower his team and forge the spirit of excellence in each of them. We dive deep into the hospitality leader’s mind to uncover his ideas and insights on enriching dining experiences at Hilton Bahrain.

In your opinion, what makes a restaurant special?

For me, what makes a restaurant truly special lies in creating lasting memories and experiences for our guests. It’s not just about the food, but the entire atmosphere and ambience we cultivate – from the attentive service to the beautifully presented dishes that tantalise the senses, to the overall feeling of being transported to another world.

The most memorable restaurants are the ones that forge an emotional connection with their diners – where the flavours, the service, and the setting all come together to leave a lasting impression. The restaurant must go beyond just feeding people and instead focus on nourishing the soul. It’s about making sure each guest feels valued, cared for, and transported to another world.

What are your thoughts on Bahrain’s F&B sector?

I’m very excited about the state of Bahrain’s food and beverage sector – it’s a thriving and dynamic landscape right now. Bahrain offers such a remarkable diversity of culinary options, showcasing flavours from all around the world.

What’s especially impressive is how enthusiastically the diners embrace and appreciate high-quality, innovative cuisine, and new experiences. This has helped attract many acclaimed F&B concepts and renowned culinary brands to set up or expand into the market here. It’s proof of the potential and the exceptional F&B experiences one can find here. As a hospitality professional in Bahrain, it’s inspiring to witness the sector evolve and elevate the dining landscape.

There’s an undeniable energy and enthusiasm around food here. Bahrain is truly becoming a culinary destination, and I’m proud to be a part of shaping that experience for our guests at the hotel. The future of F&B in this country is incredibly bright.

How do you ensure your F&B outlets at Hilton Bahrain always meet the highest standards?

At Hilton Bahrain, ensuring our food and beverage outlets consistently deliver the highest standards truly comes down to the strength of our team. It’s about fostering a culture of passion, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. We hire the finest culinary talent – chefs, mixologists, servers, and support staff who are technically skilled and deeply invested in creating remarkable dining experiences. Their collective expertise, creativity, and commitment to quality lay the foundation upon which we build.

It goes beyond just assembling a talented team. We empower our staff to take ownership of the guest experience, encouraging them to exceed expectations while anticipating and meeting our patrons’ needs. We provide extensive training and development opportunities while instilling a continuous improvement mindset.

Ultimately, it’s about building a team that is truly invested in delivering world-class cuisine and service, which permeates every aspect of the operation. What sets us apart is the holistic approach we take while attending to every sensory detail – from the presentation of dishes to the ambience. Our staff doesn’t look at this as just another job, they embody it with pride.

What are some of your favourite dishes at the hotel?

Oh, that’s a tough one for me! I have so many favourite dishes served across our outlets. But if I have to highlight a few, they would definitely include my personal go-to’s.

I love starting my day with our barista’s perfectly crafted latte, paired with a delicious smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel. That flavour combination is so comforting and satisfying; our barista has also mastered the art of pulling the ideal espresso shot.

Over at Origin Kitchen & Culture, my personal favourite has to be the Nasi Goreng. The depth of flavour in that dish is just incredible, with the perfect balance of spices and textures.

Another one would be the Tres Leches Karak – because anything incorporating our signature Bahraini Karak Tea is an absolute must-try in my book.

At the Cocoluna Lounge, I’m a big fan of the soft-shell Crab Bao Buns. Its playful and indulgent fusion of flavours combined with the texture puts a smile on my face with every bite.

I could go on and on. Our culinary team has done an amazing job of curating diverse, crave-worthy menus that showcase both local Bahraini influences and international flair.

What are some of your favourite places to eat in Bahrain?

When I’m looking to indulge in authentic Bahraini cuisine, there’s nothing quite like exploring the local souqs, with their unparalleled bustling energy and rich cultural heritage. Whether I’m grabbing a traditional meal or simply sipping on a refreshing karak tea, those souq experiences always leave me feeling rejuvenated.

There’s something so special about immersing yourself in those time-honoured culinary traditions – it’s a wonderful contrast to the modern, cosmopolitan dining scene that Bahrain is also renowned for. The juxtaposition of old and new, tradition and innovation, is part of what makes the food and beverage landscape here so captivating.

Beyond the souqs, I also love discovering some of the more contemporary Bahraini-owned restaurants and cafes that are putting inventive spins on local flavours. They honour heritage whilst pushing the boundaries of what Bahraini cuisine can be. It’s a perfect blend of respecting the past while embracing the future.

No matter where I dine in Bahrain, I’m always struck by the creativity, passion, and genuine pride that goes into the food. Whether it’s a humble but delicious street food stall or an elevated fine dining establishment, there’s an undeniable soul and authenticity to the culinary experience here that I find incredibly compelling.
