December will bring the perfect reasons to enjoy Bahrain’s vibrant heritage steeped in the cool winter breeze. Preparations are underway for the third edition of Muharraq Nights, set to commence in early December 2024. Organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), the festival aligns with the Kingdom’s Celebrate Bahrain 2024 season.
This year’s events will span the full length of the Pearling Path, from Bu Maher coast to Siyadi Majlis – the Pearling Museum. For the first time, all heritage houses along the route will open to the public, offering exhibitions and collections that narrate the history of Bahrain’s pearling economy.
The festival’s third edition features a diverse blend of creative and interactive activities, in collaboration with art galleries, public and private sector institutions, entrepreneurs, and community groups. Through art, design, crafts, children’s programmes, food, music, and tours, Muharraq Nights aims to provide an engaging experience at the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the “Pearling Path: Testimony of an Island Economy.”
The festival will shine a spotlight on the Pearling Path’s cultural, social, and intangible heritage. Walk through Bahrain’s pearling legacy across an authentic coastal route, three oyster beds, and 16 historic buildings and public squares, stretching 3.5 kilometres in the historic Muharraq.
