Man arrested with BD108,000 worth pills in his gut

A man has been arrested for attempting to smuggle narcotics into the Kingdom in his gut, the Ministry of Interior announced last night.

The ministry said that the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science director-general reported that anti-drugs police detained the 28-year-old at Bahrain International Airport.

The directorate had received information confirming the presence of an Asian trying to smuggle narcotic substances, and following a search and investigations, were able to identify the individual.

He was brought directly to a hospital from the airport to conduct X-rays on his gut, and it became clear that there were foreign bodies inside his intestine.

The director-general noted that after the extraction of these bodies, it was found that there were capsules with narcotic substances valued at about BD108,000, which the individual had swallowed prior to travel.

The director-general indicated that legal measures were taken and the case has been referred to the Public Prosecution.
