Looking for decent equestrian facilities in Bahrain? Check out Prime Stud!

Located in Dumistan, on the beautiful South-West coast, lies a hidden gem. Prime Stud is an equestrian facility with a difference. Having visited other stables, I had given up hope of finding a yard that prioritised the horses’ welfare. I heard from a friend that Prime Stud were different, and I was not disappointed.

The Facilities

The air-conditioned barn has 20 stables, a lunge pen, and three large, well-maintained sand arenas. The main attraction, however, has to be the close proximity to the sea. A short hack leads to Dumistan beach, crystal clear waters, and a sand bar if you’re feeling adventurous enough to get your feet wet!

The Horses

Prime Stud was originally built to breed Arabian show horses, and expanded to include liveries, hacks and riding lessons. Among the horses you’ll find one to fall in love with. To name a few, there’s the unflappable Oscar, the schoolmaster Espresso, and the elegant Raja, who can give advanced riders, a thrilling canter along the beach. I love how happy the horses are… no crushed spirits here!

Getting involved

Rides are offered in English or Arabic, and you’ll be paired with a horse that suits your abilities. There are also non-riding events such as, yoga days and BBQ’s & they can cater for corporate events, too. Clients often stay and socialise, and there’s a nice mix of locals and expats. They’re offering a Summer Camp for kids where they can learn how to care for a horse, as well as how to ride.
