Lexus Bahrain, a division of Ebrahim K. Kanoo (EKK), hosted an exclusive “Lexus Experience” event in collaboration with the Japanese Embassy at its Arad showroom. The evening showcased the deep connection between Lexus and Japanese culture, highlighting the brand’s commitment to Omotenashi (selfless hospitality) and Takumi craftsmanship.
Lexus Bahrain embraces the ancient Japanese concept of Takumi, a tradition that embodies the essence of artisan craftsmanship. This philosophy is at the core of the brand’s production process, guided by Takumi master craftsmen who have honed their skills through years of rigorous training.
With highly refined senses and an unwavering commitment to excellence, these artisans dedicate as much time as necessary to create exceptional vehicles and remarkable experiences. By seamlessly blending traditional techniques with modern technologies, Lexus Bahrain ensures every detail reflects precision, innovation, and craftsmanship at its finest.
The centrepiece of the evening was a captivating Ikebana demonstration by globally renowned artist, Koka Fukushima, who brought to life the graceful art of Japanese floral arrangement, a tradition spanning over seven centuries. Meister Koka’s demonstration highlighted the intricate techniques and profound artistic expression inherent in Ikebana, captivating the audience with the beauty and symbolism of the arrangements.
Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, goes beyond simply placing flowers in a container. It is a disciplined practice that harmonises nature and humanity, highlighting not just blossoms but also stems, leaves, and the overall composition. With a focus on shape, line, and form, Ikebana embodies balance, elegance, and mindfulness in floral design.
The event also featured a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, desserts, and Japanese calligraphy, where guests were treated to a unique glimpse into the artistry and mindfulness inherent in these cultural practices.
Her Excellency Asako Okai, the Ambassador of Japan to the Kingdom of Bahrain said, “Ikebana is more than just arranging flowers; it’s a reflection of harmony, balance, and respect for nature. I look forward to exploring further avenues with Lexus to showcase the richness of Japanese culture and its connection to the pursuit of excellence.”
Speaking at the event, EKK Director Isa Kanoo said, “Since its launch in 1989, Lexus has been committed to providing exceptional experiences in Bahrain. This evening, we celebrate the exquisite Japanese Takumi craftsmanship that underpins every Lexus encounter. Just as our Takumi artisans meticulously craft each vehicle, we strive to create an ownership experience that is equally refined and rewarding.”
The event underscored Lexus’s dedication to delivering an unparalleled ownership journey filled with precision and beauty. Lexus embodies a philosophy of craftsmanship, innovation, and Omotenashi, creating a seamless and enriching experience for its clientele.
In Japan, hospitality is deeply embedded in its culture, shaped by the concept of omotenashi, a tradition rooted in sado (the tea ceremony). Omotenashi embodies the philosophy of wholeheartedly caring for guests without expecting anything in return. It reflects Japan’s unique approach to service, where attentiveness and anticipation of guests’ needs take precedence over mere transactions. This ethos is evident across various cultural experiences, from the serene hospitality of a ryokan (traditional inn) to the meticulous presentation of a kaiseki banquet and the refined rituals of a tea ceremony.
Defining omotenashi in English is challenging because it is best understood through experience. It extends beyond the conventional notion of customer service, permeating daily interactions in homes, restaurants, retail spaces, and formal gatherings. Unlike the Western adage, “the customer is always right,” omotenashi operates on a deeper level—where no task is considered too small if it enhances the guest’s experience. Every detail, from a warm greeting to seamless service, is executed with precision and sincerity, making visitors feel genuinely valued. This ingrained hospitality ensures that those who visit Japan leave with a profound sense of care and thoughtfulness.
