Leaders in Bahrain Hospitality: An Interview with Pasquale Baiguera of Movenpick Hotel Bahrain

Bahrain Confidential interviews the leaders in Bahrain hospitality about what’s new, what’s next, and what makes them the best…

Mr. Pasquale Baiguera
General Manager
Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain

Tell us something personal, what puts a smile in your face at work?

The first thing that makes me smile is when I drive into the main entrance of the hotel and see the green bushes and garden. Once I enter the hotel, I pass through all the outlets and make sure everything is as they should. When I see happy hotel guests smiling, I smile deeply as well, and also when I see my colleagues and employees at work smiling, I become happy and smile back at them.

In a fiercely competitive market, how do you plan on remaining at the forefront of the hospitality game?

We remain at the forefront by ensuring that we deliver consistent quality and high level of service throughout all the organisation, as well as by continuing to come up with innovative ideas and activities and ensuring that we go above and beyond guests’ expectations. Also, we will undergo a major renovation with such a beautiful new look. The aim is to be ready in one year with a new hotel and products so that we could continue to provide a luxury experience and service to all our guests. We have always provided outstanding service in a friendly and luxurious environment. The upcoming renovation is for sure an enhancement of what we have today.

What are your plans for the Formula 1?

We will serve Formula One-themed brunch on 6 April 2018, which guests will enjoy while watching live F1 practice from our giant screens, just to be in the same mood with the actual F1 race. We will then have a raffle draw at the end of the brunch wherein two guests could win F1 tickets. Winners will be announced at the same event. On the other hand we will be keeping our regular themed nights, as we expect to close with high occupancy just like in the previous years.

What have been the biggest challenges and successes of the past year?

To compete in a very challenging market with many new beautiful properties that just opened in the Kingdom yet keeping ourselves focused on the right things, we manage to maintain our position as a leading hotel in the market and with competitive set results.

What’s next for Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain?

I am proud to announce and confirm that thanks to all our stakeholders’ commitment, we will proceed with a full hotel renovation (rooms and F&B outlets, starting sometime in May). We are planning to completely renovate the hotel, rooms, F&B outlets, public areas and last but not least all infrastructures. This means we will have a brand new product with state-of-the-art facilities.
