Automobili Lamborghini introduces the all-new Temerario, the second model in the Italian brand’s High-Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV) range. The super sports car features a twin-turbo V8 hybrid powertrain that combines performance and comfort. With the Temerario, Lamborghini completes the hybridization of its lineup, including the Urus SE. The hybrid EV debuted at Monterey Car Week 2024, setting a new benchmark in the super sports car segment with its 920 CV power output, a top speed of over 340 kph and acceleration from 0 to kph in just 2.7 seconds.
The Temerario’s powertrain combines a high-revving 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine and three electric motors. The V8, developed entirely in Sant’Agata Bolognese, delivers 800 CVs between 9,000 and 9,750 rpm and 730 Nm of torque. The electric motor, positioned between the V8 engine and the gearbox, adds instant torque and smooth power delivery, acting as a “torque gap filler.” The two electric motors on the front axle provide additional power, allowing the Temerario to function as a fully electric super sports car, reducing CO2 emissions by up to 50% compared to the Huracán.
“We wanted to develop an incomparable, high-performance sports engine that combines the best of two worlds: an emotional combustion engine based on a twin-turbocharged V8 and a performance-oriented electrification. Our concept of incorporating three electric motors with a combustion engine ensures to achieve instantaneous acceleration, torque vectoring and energy recuperation. With the Temerario we are redefining the segment,” says Rouven Mohr, Chief Technical Officer at Lamborghini. “Temerario is in a league of its own, in terms of engineering solutions and performance.”
The Temerario is equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack, centrally located for optimal weight distribution and a low centre of gravity. The battery, with a capacity of 3.8 kWh, can be completely charged in 30 minutes via regenerative braking or directly from the V8 engine. The Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo (LDV) 2.0 system enhances driving dynamics with electric torque vectoring and advanced brake cooling systems.
The new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) is compact and lightweight, positioned behind the V8 to accommodate the lithium-ion battery. This configuration optimizes the Temerario’s weight distribution and driving dynamics, ensuring rapid gear shifts and improved fuel efficiency.
Lamborghini Centro Stile has crafted a new design language for the Temerario, characterized by sharp, clean lines and advanced aerodynamics.
The exterior features a new hexagonal Daytime Running Light (DRL) signature, integrated aerodynamics, and a bold shark-nose design. a new hexagonal Daytime Running Light (DRL) signature, rendering it strongly recognizable and identifiable from far away. The hexagon concept can be found as the main design theme throughout the car: on the main bodywork, the side air intakes, the taillights and in the remarkable hexagonal exhaust pipe.
“This unique hexagonal light signature ensures a high recognition value within the Lamborghini range, and is also clearly identifiable in the distance,” emphasizes Borkert. The geometric hexagon paradigm has been one of Lamborghini’s most recognizable symbols since the 1960s.
The interior offers a “Feel like a pilot” experience, with 18-way adjustable seats, high-quality materials, and a driver-focused cockpit. The Temerario also introduces the Lamborghini Vision Unit (LAVU) system, providing advanced multimedia experiences and driving assistance.
“The Lamborghini Temerario marks definitively a new milestone in our design language. We call it “essential and iconic” with enhanced athleticism from its surfaces. At first glance, this is a puristic, futuristic and yet fascinating super sports car, with its compact and agile proportions, the new hexagonal light signature, the ‘Feel like a pilot’ interior design and its sharp lines emphasizing the new hybrid powertrain and its fun-to-drive dynamics. We provide a clear view of the new V8 biturbo engine: the emotional heart of the car and an innovative source of power,” says Mitja Borkert, Director of Design at Automobili Lamborghini.
The Temerario offers 13 driving modes, including new hybrid-specific modes like Recharge, Hybrid, and Performance. These modes can be selected via steering wheel controls, optimizing the car for various driving conditions. Corsa mode maximizes the car’s performance on the track, while Drift Mode allows controlled oversteer for a thrilling driving experience.
Together with the hybrid system, three new dedicated driving modes also debut: Recharge, Hybrid and Performance, selectable via the upper right rotor. The choice of driving mode is displayed on the driver’s 12.3-inch digital dashboard, where the animated graphics replicate the rotation of the selectors to make the selection immediately intuitive.
The Lamborghini Vision Unit (LAVU) system enhances the driving experience with features like Lamborghini Telemetry 2.0, Memories Recorder, and Dashcam. The new Human-Machine Interface (HMI) includes three displays and offers extensive customization options, making the Temerario the most advanced multimedia car in Lamborghini’s history.
Lamborghini has partnered with Bridgestone to develop custom-engineered Potenza tyres for the Temerario, designed to maximize performance in various conditions, including summer, track, and winter driving. The Potenza Sport fitment includes a Run-Flat homologation, offering safety and control even after a puncture.
Developed and manufactured in Europe, the custom-engineered tyres will be available in eight dimensions across 20’’ and 21’’ sizes, ensuring that the Temerario delivers exceptional performance in all driving conditions.
