Old-School Style: A New Boxing Club Has Arrived in Bahrain

Bahraincover

Bahrain has much to offer when it comes to boxing. In June this year, the Kingdom hosted its first National Boxing Championship, crowning its first set of champions at the Isa Sports City in Riffa. With the demand for the sport growing, the need for authentic and relevant boxing clubs is on the rise as well.

Enter Killa Boxing Club (KBC) which has just opened its doors in Salmabad with an old-school boxing concept. This new club is the real deal – it’s run by a boxer, and houses equipment inspired by the boxing capitals of the world.

Boxing Made Authentic

KBC is the brainchild of Sami Al-Adsani, a Kuwaiti boxer living in Bahrain who has been in the ring since he was 15 years old, throwing punches across the globe. “[…] Bahrain has a large community of boxing lovers from enthusiasts to competing athletes, but with not a lot of options. Current boxing gyms are good in some aspects but don’t offer the same exceptional quality of environment, equipment, and coaching. So I opened one!” Sami said.

Joining Sami as coaches at the club are the National Boxing Champion in the 71 KG category, Mohammed Fakhr and Training Specialist, Cedric Jolet. The club is also extending a scholarship from September 2024 until the next Bahrain National Boxing Championship.

Authentic equipment is crucial for any sport. For professional boxers, the right equipment and set-up can make all the difference. “Boxers know the difference between good equipment and bad, and it is not just about the brand or the price. It’s in the way the equipment is set up to ensure quality training for every boxer. Being a boxer myself, I know the value of authentic equipment and the impact it has on a boxer’s training,” added Sami.

The equipment design at Killa Boxing is inspired by the boxing capitals of the world – Mexico, America, and the UK. The boxing ring is made in Bahrain and the custom leather boxing products are sourced from Pakistan.
