Alexandre Buytaert recently stepped into his role as Director of Food & Beverage at InterContinental Bahrain, bringing years of experience and a genuine passion for memorable dining journeys.
From reimagining Legendz Steakhouse as more than just a destination for premium cuts to curating refined brunches and championing sustainability, he’s steering the hotel’s culinary offerings with both vision and heart.
We sat down with him for an exclusive chat about what sets the award-winning Legendz Steakhouse apart in Bahrain’s competitive dining scene, the challenges and rewards of leading diverse F&B operations, and the exciting concepts yet to arrive at the hotel.
At Legendz Steakhouse, my vision is to create a dining experience that goes far beyond the plate. Of course, the quality of our meat is paramount – we source only the finest cuts and prepare them with precision. But what I truly want guests to remember is the sense of warmth, refinement, and hospitality that defines every visit.
Legendz should be remembered as a place where excellent cuisine meets genuine connection – where every guest feels cared for, every detail is thought through, and every moment lingers long after the last bite.
We have already brought this vision to life through our Brunch Affair, where brunch is elevated into a refined experience with curated dishes, exceptional ingredients, and premium spirits, creating a dining journey that sets a new benchmark in Bahrain.
Just as important, however, is the warm engagement from our team – their genuine interactions add heart to the dining experience, ensuring that guests not only enjoy an exceptional meal, but also feel welcomed, valued, and able to pause from their busy schedules to connect over food. The biggest challenge has been to continue evolving our offerings in a market that is both highly competitive and constantly changing. Guests today are well-travelled and expect global standards paired with local authenticity.
The rewarding part, however, has been working with such a passionate team that shares the same commitment to excellence. Seeing a concept come to life – whether it’s a refreshed menu, a themed dining event, or a flawless service moment – and knowing it made someone’s evening truly memorable is what keeps me inspired.
We are focusing on three pillars: innovation, sustainability, and connection. Innovation means refreshing our dining concepts to keep them exciting and relevant, whether through seasonal menus or curated experiences.
Sustainability is central to our philosophy, from sourcing responsibly to reducing food waste. And connection is about strengthening the bond between our restaurants and the community – making InterContinental Bahrain a true hub for culinary discovery in the Kingdom.
From Legendz Steakhouse, it has to be our signature Beef Wellington, a dish that combines precision, indulgence, and artistry. At Medzo, I would recommend the homemade Ravioli with Ricotta and Spinach, which captures the essence of authentic Italian comfort.
From Selections, our Seafood Night is a must-experience, offering freshness and variety that celebrate Bahrain’s coastal heritage. At Downtown, I’d suggest our Asian-inspired tapas plates, perfect for sharing with friends over a lively evening. Rigani, our pop-up Greek restaurant, is all about fresh Mediterranean flavours – and I’d point anyone straight to the Grilled Octopus, a simple yet unforgettable dish that embodies the spirit of Greece.
Finally, while Elements Lounge may not have a “signature dish” per se, it now offers something equally delicious – the perfect vibe. With our new DJ sets every Thursday and Friday, it’s less about what’s on the plate and more about unwinding with great drinks, great music, and a great crowd.
