Hungry Fifi: Affordable and tasty lunch suggestions in Bahrain

Diplomatic/ Bahrain Bay/Manama

Nature’s Market: This new organic supermarket in The Avenues can rustle up a sandwich or wrap for you, with your choice of ingredients for a reasonable 2BD to 3BD.

Chtaura: A Lebanese deli and café in Moda Mall. We love to stop here for their wood-fired pizzas and other delicacies, followed by a stroll down the aisles to pick up some tasty Levantine gems.

Darseen Café: Tucked in at the back of the Bahrain Museum this café is a real find. Stop here for sandwiches, salads or heartier meals and enjoy unique sea views while you dine.

Seef

Elios Café: Located on the ground floor of the BMMI building in Seef, Elios has a great selection of salads, sandwiches and juices. You’ll find it hard to spend more than 3 BD here, a price bracket we’re very happy with.

Lumee; Al Abraaj’s more contemporary chain in A’Ali Mall has some fantastic options for lunch, including the hearty fattayer breads and fresh salads.  Not in the area, then head to their branches in The Avenues and Saar as well.

Raw Candy: For now a secret of those in AlMoayyed tower, Raw Candy quietly opened up before the summer and serves healthy salads, sandwiches and juices. Don’t forget to pick up some of their chocolate for guilt-free afternoon snacking too.

Baker & Spice; This A’Ali mall restaurant has one of the best salad bars we’ve seen on the island. For 5.5BD you can top up your plate with 5 generous portions of daily changing salads and vegetables. You’ll leave feeling satisfied and virtuous!

Adliya/Mahooz

Banu: Located in Hala Plaza, this new Iranian restaurant opened to much fanfare earlier this year and you can easily see why. Enjoy juicy skewers, steaming rice and aromatic stews for your meal.  We hear they are going to launch a range of sandwiches this month and eagerly await trying them.

Banana Leaf; This Thai stalwart in Adliya is a great stop for a quick green curry or Pad Thai. Don’t expect much fanfare here just quick service, good food and plenty of change from a 10BD note.

Hash House; If you’re in Block 338 at lunch, then Hash House ticks many boxes. Great prices, a range of healthy and fresh dishes and good options for vegetarians and pescatarians,
