How to Pitch

Got a story for us? Here's what we cover, what makes a pitch land, and how to send it.

The Brief

What we're looking for

We cover Bahrain first. If it’s happening on the island and it’s new, we want to hear about it.

We cover

  • New restaurant, bar and cafe openings, ideally before they open.
  • Events, exhibitions, festivals and things to do across the island.
  • Hotel, spa and wellness news: launches, refurbishments, new treatments.
  • People stories, the chefs, founders and creatives behind the island's best.
  • Travel, culture, fashion and beauty with a real Bahrain angle.

We usually don't

  • Product announcements with nothing new to say.
  • Anything already covered everywhere else a week ago.
  • Requests to review something that isn't open yet, without access.
Make It Easy

What a good pitch looks like

Our editors read a lot of email. The ones that get picked up all look roughly like this.

1

Lead with why

One paragraph on why it matters, not a five-page release.

2

Bring the details

Dates, prices, location. The things a reader actually needs.

3

Send real images

High-resolution, and tell us who to credit.

4

Name a contact

Someone who can answer a follow-up quickly.

The Ground Rules

How we handle pitches

Editorial is not for sale

A pitch is not a booking. Coverage is decided by our editors on merit, and is never guaranteed in exchange for advertising. Anything paid for is produced as an advertorial and clearly labelled as a paid partnership, that separation is the reason readers trust us. If you'd like guaranteed placement, that's advertising, and we'd love to talk.

Timing

For events, give us at least two to three weeks' notice, more for anything print. The monthly magazine closes well ahead of publication, so early is always better than late.

We can't reply to everything

We read every pitch, but the volume means we can't respond to each one. If it's right for us, you'll hear back. A single polite follow-up is fine; a chase every day is not.

Embargoes & Exclusives

We'll respect a clearly stated embargo. Tell us up front if a story is exclusive to us, it makes it considerably more likely we'll run it.
