Gulf Air’s regular flight operations remain suspended as Bahrain’s airspace continues to stay closed following the regional conflict that began on 28 February. There’s no confirmed date for when things will return to normal just yet, but the airline has said it will resume regular services once Bahrain Civil Aviation Affairs confirms the safe reopening of the Kingdom’s airspace.

In the meantime, the airline has opened bookings for flights between Dammam and London, Mumbai, and Bangkok starting from 11 March. These flights will be available to passengers travelling to and from Bahrain during the temporary closure of the airspace.

These are special services only; the airline has asked passengers to arrive at the airport only if they carry a valid and confirmed ticket.

This service doesn’t signal a return to normal operations. So, it’s important to manage expectations if you’re hoping for a broader resumption of flights anytime soon.

Where are the Gulf Air Flights Landing?

The latest batch of flights is routing to and from Dammam, Saudi Arabia, rather than directly through Bahrain. Here’s the current schedule:

  • Dammam to London Heathrow: Departs at 10:20 am
  • London Heathrow to Dammam: Departs at 10:30 pm
  • Dammam to Mumbai: Departs at 9:30 am
  • Mumbai to Dammam: Departs at 5:40 pm
  • Dammam to Bangkok: Departs at 9:30 am
  • Bangkok to Dammam: Departs at 5:00 pm

What Happens After You Land?

Once you arrive in Dammam, the only way into Bahrain is by road via the King Fahd Causeway. Gulf Air is not arranging onward transport from the airport, so you will need to sort out your own travel for this leg of the journey. That could mean arranging a taxi, a car rental, or coordinating a pickup with family or friends already in the region.

You will also need to make sure you have the necessary visa for entering Saudi Arabia, so it’s worth getting that sorted well in advance of your flight.

Before You Head to the Airport

Gulf Air has advised passengers not to turn up at the departure airport unless they already have a valid ticket in hand. These flights are operating under limited capacity and are strictly for repatriation purposes, so walk-ins won’t be accommodated.
