Gulf Air has expanded its temporary flight operations from King Fahd International Airport in Dammam. Three new destinations have been added to its existing network: Istanbul, Athens, and Thiruvananthapuram.
The additions bring the total number of routes operating from Dammam to 13, covering Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. For residents who need to travel while Bahrain International Airport remains out of action, the growing route list means more options without having to connect through a second hub.
Gulf Air’s temporary Dammam network now covers 13 international destinations:
Europe: London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Athens
Asia: Manila, Bangkok, Mumbai, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram
Africa: Cairo, Casablanca, Nairobi
Istanbul and Athens extend the European coverage beyond the original three cities. Thiruvananthapuram adds a third route into India alongside Mumbai and Chennai, which will matter to the significant Indian community living in Bahrain.
Tickets for all Dammam routes can be booked through the usual channels:
Schedules and availability are updated regularly, so it is worth checking the website or app for the latest flight times before making plans.
Gulf Air’s organised bus service runs from Bahrain to King Fahd International Airport. This is the simplest option for most travellers, as the airline facilitates Saudi transit visas for passengers using the bus.
A few things to keep in mind:
There is no confirmed date yet. Gulf Air has stated that regular services from Bahrain International Airport will resume as soon as the airspace is declared safe for reopening by the Civil Aviation Affairs.
In the meantime, the Dammam operation is functioning as a reliable alternative, with daily flights and a growing route network that covers the destinations most Bahrain residents need.
