Bahrain Confidential takes a first look at Sofitel Bahrain’s new menu at Rivaaj!
Situated at the opulent Sofitel Bahrain, Rivaaj is not your ordinary kind of Indian restaurant. This bold addition to the hotel’s dining scene represents a new level of Indian cuisine with its style, service and new menu! Just recently, we had the chance to try it!
Rivaaj is spearheaded by the epicurean Indian Chef, Javed Qureshi, from the well-known Qureshi lineage that have specialised and mastered the Hyderabadi and North Indian cuisines since generations. According to Chef Javed, the new menu is filled with unique specialty dishes. Being the food enthusiasts that we are, we were so thrilled to indulge into a scrumptious array amongst the sophisticated ambiance.
Guests can choose to be seated in the elegant indoor dining area or opt for an al fresco dining under the stars at the breathtaking terrace. We loved the seating arrangement – it is not monotonous but it ensures that people get their desired privacy.
Moving on to our favourite part, the food! A look at the new menu gave us the impression that it is certainly fresh and innovative. We had Chef Javed’s recommendations including his secret recipe, Nahari al Subho which is made of lamb shanks and exotic spices. Since one of us have strict dietary requirements, we were impressed at how well the team catered to our needs.
The food is sumptuous; delicate flavours, succulent textures and aromatic spices combine together to make a rich variety of dishes.
Old favourites like the Tikka Masala and Buttered Chicken were refashioned with new complementary twists. We also savoured the delicious vegan options from curry to biryani. The dishes were paired with specialty drinks that were no less than remarkable. The concoctions went together very well with each mouthful of the plates we had!
Rivaaj elevates Bahrain’s appreciation of Indian fine dining to a new level. The service, food and ambiance were exquisite. True enough, the restaurant has brought sophistication and the kind of Indian dining a lot of us have been waiting for.
