Flexible Work Hours System: New Rules Set for Public Employees in Bahrain!

Bahraincover

Bahrain’s Civil Service Bureau has introduced a new flexible working hours system for government agencies. The system, which was approved by the Cabinet, allows employees a three-hour window to begin their workday to increase productivity. Civil Service Bureau President Ahmed bin Zayed Al Zayed issued Edict (1) of 2023 on the instructions for employee attendance and departure, with the aim of creating a comfortable and convenient working environment while setting unified and fair attendance and departure rules.

The instructions include measures to implement the flexible working hours system and provide integrated data and reports for decision-makers to follow up on attendance and departure accurately. While government agencies should instruct employees to adhere to specified official working hours, the application of the flexible working hours system shall not exceed three flexible hours as a maximum.
