The Farmers Market Returns To The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain

Bahraincover

If you’re searching for the perfect Friday morning plan, we’ve got something for you. The Farmers Market at The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain is back, and it’s one of the best ways to enjoy the island’s beautiful winter weather.

This isn’t just another weekend market; it has become a local favourite. Every Friday morning, the hotel’s gorgeous gardens turn into a huge, open-air celebration of everything that makes Bahrain special. You can explore heaps of seasonal produce, local artisans showcasing their crafts, and a food selection that might make you skip dinner the night before just to prepare.

The market runs every Friday from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, until 13 February. Whether you’ve lived here for years or are just visiting, this event reminds everyone why Bahrain’s community spirit is so unique.

The Food

Executive Chef Joergen Sodemann and his team have put in a lot of effort this year to make breakfast an immersive experience within the Farmers’ Market. We suggest arriving early to enjoy breakfast before the crowd gets in and the queue lengthens.

You can start your morning with all the favourites: Bahraini Shakshuka (the ultimate comfort food), Balaleet, and Foul Medames. If you want to try something new, don’t miss the seared Bahraini beef liver. It’s a local classic for a reason.

As the morning turns into the afternoon, the aroma of live cooking stations fills the gardens. You’ll find fresh Shawarmas, grilled chicken, and if you’re craving carbs, there’s a dedicated pasta and panini station. Be sure to save room for dessert, especially the Gaimat. These little golden, honey-soaked dumplings are the perfect way to end a Bahraini feast.

A Special Guest in the Kitchen

One of the exciting highlights this year is the guest chef. The team has invited Chef Suman Ali Sayed, and her story is intriguing. She is a Bahraini-Canadian culinary talent who has been gaining attention internationally, most recently at Bar Mordecai in Toronto, which is listed among North America’s 50 Best Bars.

She’s back at the Farmers Market to share her mindful cuisine. Her style connects her international experience with her Middle Eastern roots, using local, sustainable ingredients paired with traditional Bahraini flavours. It’s not just about the food; it’s about telling a story on a plate, and it’s a great opportunity to see what a local talent is achieving on the global stage.

More Than Just a Grocery Run

If you have kids, the Farmers Market is a lifesaver for Friday morning fun. There’s a petting zoo, a bouncy castle, face painting, and henna. But if you’re enjoying a day out without kids, there’s still plenty to see. You can stroll through live painting displays or watch traditional wood carvers in action.

One of the standout attractions is watching the date-tree climbing demonstrations. The speed and skill involved in traditional date harvesting are impressive. You’ll also find stalls showcasing Arabic calligraphy and traditional Bahraini weaving, which are great reminders of the craftsmanship that defines the Kingdom.

Why You Should Go

What we love about this event is that it feels relaxed and welcoming, not like a formal hotel brunch. It offers a taste of Bahraini heritage in a lovely setting. It’s conversational, laid-back, and a fantastic way to support local artisans and farmers while enjoying some of the best food on the island.

So, gather the family or bring a group of hungry friends, and head over to the Ritz-Carlton grounds this Friday.
