American School of Bahrain (ASB) is set to elevate the caliber of American international education in the Kingdom. The ASB education team will comprise experienced teachers and administrators with years of invaluable experience in the international education sector.

A key announcement from ASB is the recent appointment of Mr. Steve Bodnar as Principal, working alongside ASB’s Founding Director, Mr. Dave McMaster. With 33 years of experience as an educator in three different countries, Mr. Bodnar brings passion, energy and an internationally minded approach to ASB. For the past 21 years he has served as an elementary school principal in Ontario, Canada. Prior to that he had spent a number of years as a teacher in Venezuela and Switzerland, gaining international experience which he now brings to the ASB leadership team.

Early Childhood Lead Teacher Ms. Sandra Al-Ajmi, will be a familiar face to many parents in Bahrain, joining the ASB team from The Learning Tree, a leading kindergarten and nursery that she has successfully operated for the past 12 years. Originally from Ohio, Ms. Al-Ajmi has over 30 years of experience, having served as a teacher, Vice Principal and Principal in Kuwait and the United States. She is an expert on early childhood education and will be a knowledgeable, reassuring voice for ASB parents.

With a focus on honoring the languages and customs of the school’s host country, Mr. A. Fuad Al Anzarouti has been appointed as the Head of Arabic Language & Culture.  Building on decades of experience across the region and internationally, Mr. Al Anzarouti has served as teacher and leader in Riffa Views International School and St. Christopher’s School. He has also been an official translator in a number of companies and a school liaison officer with the Ministry of Education.

Centrally located in Wadi Al Buhair, in North Riffa near the Bahrain National Stadium, American School of Bahrain is set to open in the new academic year starting September 2020. ASB is set to be a close-knit community, bringing families together with the goal of helping students discover their individual passions and talents.

With an expansive 60,000 square meter campus catering to 1200 students, ASB will be home to one of the most advanced learning environments in Bahrain. The premium Pre-K-Grade 12 American preparatory school is set to open its doors in September 2020 with a challenging standards-based US curriculum leading to the option of an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma in Grades 11 and 12, designed to meet the highest standards of international education.
