Enlivening the Mystique: Interview with The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain’s Yasser Mazouz

Bahrain Confidential shares a conversation with The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain’s Director of Sales, Yasser Mazouz.

What is your approach in leading The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain?

I believe leadership is personified through one’s character and stature. My approach has always been characterized through a strong mindfulness of the goal at hand and the steps to complete the goal and ultimately win the business. There is an idiom I often refer to as the “iron fist in a velvet glove” – where as a leader, you must be firm with your decision but also genuine in your approach.

Who is The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain guest today?

Our guests today are the luxury global traveler. They are the ones who seek the luxury service, but enjoy the adventure of the destination and the experience it beholds. This is where our Ladies and Gentlemen have the opportunity to create dynamic experiences that mimic the tradition or culture found in the Kingdom of Bahrain. In other words, the destination experience is part of The Ritz-Carlton experience that one will have when staying at our resort. For instance, we have a new member loyalty package that does just that – it’s a ‘Luxury Pearl Diving Experience’ where the guests experience the traditions of pearl diving, followed by a jewel merchant consultation and 4-course oyster and seafood inspired dinner at Plums.

Is it more challenging nowadays to show what makes a property unique?

While upkeep and enhancements should always be maintained with any property, I believe that it is also in the experiences created that keep up the excitement for our guests. As one of our brand pillars, we are always looking for ways to wow our guests and provide innovative experiences to enliven The Ritz-Carlton mystique. This is where we’ve seen them come back time and again.

What are your plans for the upcoming Eid?

As the Ramadan experiences end, we will bring back our traditional Eid al-Fitr Brunch at La Med where guests can experience a lavish feast featuring a classic spread of brunch specialties from braised meats, seafood dishes, Arabic salads, gourmet desserts and more. Pricing will start at BD 35, with special beverages, BD 30, with soft drinks.

What advice can you give to young people looking to build careers in this industry?

I would say to always go after your goals with integrity and mindful decision-making. Know what is that you want and want to achieve, all while being ready for the challenges and the opportunities in your foresight.
