Doors of Bahrain

Bahrain- based South African artist, Leanne Marshall, captures these beautiful ‘witnesses of the past’ and strongholds of the times gone by, which are slowly disappearing from the architectural scene.

Leanne got her first camera while still at school and that’s when photography became a passion – wildlife photography under high African skies, travel photography at iconic destinations across five continents and, since moving to Bahrain, street photography.

“For a photographer, Bahrain has much to offer: narrow streets and colorful souqs, dhows and fishing boats, skyscrapers and archeological digs, sunrises and sunsets, forts and castles, and especially, beautiful camels.” says Leanne.

The artist believes that pictures are to be composed in the camera. Relying on capturing the essence of the subject with very little, or no, manipulation of the photograph, Leanne captures everyday views in a way that is both natural and striking.
