What’s the first word that comes to mind when you think of Bahrain, and why?
When I think of Bahrain, the first word that comes to mind is warmth. It’s not just because it’s my homeland, but because of the incredible diversity of its residents and the harmonious way people live together, embracing cultural and religious differences.
In your opinion, what does the future of Bahrain look like 10 years from now?
I envision a bright and exciting future for Bahrain. In the next 10 years, I see it flourishing even more, becoming a vibrant hub for international events and world-class restaurants. I see Bahrain as a place where people from around the world feel welcome. The Kingdom will continue to shine as a beacon of tourism, diversity, and regional progress.
If you could safeguard one aspect of Bahrain’s culture or heritage for future generations, what would it be?
If I could preserve one aspect of Bahrain’s culture for future generations, it would be the cherished Friday family gatherings. These gatherings are more than just a tradition; they embody the strong family bonds that are the foundation of Bahraini society. They provide not only a healthy way to socialize but also a source of emotional stability, creating meaningful connections and memories that last a lifetime.
Can you share a cherished memory that perfectly captures your love for Bahrain?
One cherished memory that perfectly captures my love for Bahrain is my experience participating in the National Leadership Program, HiPo Youth. It was an incredible opportunity where my team and I developed initiatives aimed at empowering Bahraini youth. Contributing to the growth and future of Bahrain through this program filled me with immense pride and a deeper appreciation for the spirit of collaboration and progress that defines our nation.
Do you have a favourite spot in Bahrain? What makes it so special to you?
My favourite spot in Bahrain is the Budaiya Botanical Garden during the farmers’ market. As a chef, there’s something truly magical about walking through the vibrant stalls filled with fresh, local produce. The colours, aromas, and conversations with local farmers inspire me to experiment and create new dishes, connecting me to the roots of our community and the bounty of our land.
Is there a Bahraini tradition or custom you wish the world could experience? Why do you think it’s so unique?
I wish the world could experience traditional Bahraini food. It’s a beautiful fusion of flavours, blending influences from Indian and Persian cuisines with Bahrain’s own cultural heritage. This harmony of spices and techniques has created extraordinary dishes that tell stories of connection and history. There’s truly something for everyone to love, making it a unique culinary journey that reflects Bahrain’s rich and diverse culture.
