Celebrations for the Annual Audi Medal at the Awali Golf Club, Riffa

On Wednesday 11th April, seventy-nine players teed off for the annual Audi Medal golf competition held at Awali Golf Club. Despite challenging  hazy weather conditions, great scoring was achieved by the competitors.

Phil Sadler emerged victorious as the overall winner and Saleh Ali Al Kaabi won the medal for his lowest gross score. Premium weekend test drives of the Audi range were offered as prizes by Audi Bahrain to those fortunate to have their names drawn in the raffle.

The club have a long running relationship with Audi and yesterday the General Sales Manager of Audi-Bahrain John Birch and his wife were on hand to see the afternoon players coming up the eighteenth fairway. “Not only does the company sponsor this annual event but they also very generously provide our club professional Rory Young with a Q2 car for his use during the year” said the Vice-Captain Mark Hodgkinson. “In addition, over the past year Rory and John have collaborated together to involve Audi-Bahrain with the youth development program here at the club” he continued.

A ‘Hole-In-One’ was celebrated by Onny Martin, who hit the perfect shot on hole number 4. Congratulations were offered and the honour of ‘ringing-the-bell’ was duly carried out to recognize the achievement.

Winner Phil Sadler scored net 62 (gross 71) and Saleh Ali Al Kaabi won the medal for his lowest gross score of 67 (handicap +2: net-69).

With John Birch on hand to present the main prizes, he also drew the winners in the now famous ‘Audi Medal Raffle’. Audi Bahrain presented vouchers to the lucky recipients for ‘Thursday to Sunday’ premium test drives of some of their extensive range, including the Q7, A8, A6 models.

Vice-Captain Mark Hodgkinson thanked John Birch and Audi-Bahrain for their generous and continuing support of AGC.
