Celebrate International Museum Day in Bahrain with This Culture-Packed Programme!

The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) has recently unveiled a range of cultural events in celebration of the 2023 International Museum Day. This global event is observed annually on May 18th, and this year’s theme is “Museums, Sustainability and Well-being.”

The BACA’s programme will take place between May 13th and 24th and will be held across two venues – the Bahrain National Museum and Qal’at Al Bahrain Site Museum. The programme includes a variety of workshops for all age groups, such as drawing, arts, photography, antiquities, museum guidance, cuneiform writing, and ancient arts from the civilisations of Tylos and Dilmun.

There are many other exciting events planned, including a panel discussion on the book “Bahraini Proverbs Depicted by Cartoon Scribbles,” a virtual lecture on museum guide skills, and a panel discussion on “Sustainability & Well-Being in the Future of Museums” at the University of Bahrain.

The programme also features storytelling, a screening of the film “Mohenjo Daro,” a group breakfast, a competition for the best museum, and the “Coins through Culture and History Exhibition.”

From May 18th to 20th, the two venues will be open to visitors free of charge. During the same period, the Darseen Café at the Bahrain National Museum will offer discounts on its menu.

BACA has encouraged the public to participate in the International Museum Day events. You can visit BACA’s website or follow their instagram for more information.
