You Can Do More Than Just Drink Coffee at These Cafés in Bahrain

Bahraincover

There are dozens of cafés in Bahrain, but only a handful where you can actually do something fun while you’re there. These spots combine decent coffee with activities worth your time, whether you’re after board games, art workshops, or book club evenings.

The concept works because sometimes you want more than just a caffeine fix. Maybe you’re meeting friends and need an actual activity beyond sitting and talking. Maybe you’re on a date and want something to do with your hands. Or maybe you just fancy trying pottery while drinking a matcha latte.

These cafés have figured out the formula: comfortable seating, solid drinks and food, and activities that don’t feel forced or gimmicky. Some focus on creativity with painting and ceramics. Others lean into gaming culture with board game libraries and trivia nights. A few host regular club meetings for readers, debaters, or sketch artists.

The activities vary from free use of games to paid workshops, so check ahead if you’re planning something specific. Most of these places also work perfectly fine as regular cafés if you just want coffee, which makes them flexible.

Here are four cafés in Bahrain where the entertainment comes included.

Arte de Café

Arte de Café hosts regular activities, including social game nights, art sessions, and themed evenings. It’s one of the newer spots doing this properly. The menu covers coffee, matcha, bubble tea, lemonades, hot chocolate, and fresh juices. For food, there are sandwiches, salads, and acai bowls.

Location: Adliya

Higher Grounds

Higher Grounds is known as a work and study spot, but it’s also stocked with board and card games for customers. They run regular workshops too, so check their calendar before you go. The food menu is international: salad bowls, breakfast platters, wraps, sandwiches, burgers, tacos. Drinks include coffee, tea, boba, smoothies, and wellness shots.

Location: Tubli

Passion Art Café

Passion Art opened a café in 2024 where you can throw clay on a pottery wheel or paint ceramics. You can also make your own ceramic piece and come back later to paint it. The café side is lighter: coffee, matcha, tea, and pastries to accompany your creative session. It’s worth booking ahead for the clay throwing workshop specifically.

Location: Budaiya

The Raven’s Nest

The Raven’s Nest runs board game nights, trivia, sketch nights, book club, debate club, women’s club, and other themed evenings. It has established itself as one of the more interesting café concepts in Bahrain. The menu leans into the fantasy theme with hot and cold drinks and snacks named accordingly. Check their Instagram for the current events calendar.
