Marking 20 years of driving awareness, education, and research about Breast Cancer, Think Pink Bahrain is bringing the community together for its Race to a Million campaign. The initiative, in partnership with Bahrain Bricks, will culminate in the construction of a giant symbol made up of bricks that promotes hope and resilience.

This symbol is also the trademark of Think Pink’s breast self-examination app – iCheck. Each brick used in this installation is dedicated to individuals facing breast cancer.

20 Years of Breast Cancer Awareness, Research, and Education

Think Pink: Bahrain Breast Cancer Society was founded by Dr. Julie Sprakel in 2004. It is the only standalone breast cancer society and organisation and works on building greater research, awareness, and education. The society marks its 20th anniversary this year. Apart from the Race to a Million Challenge, Think Pink’s Annual Golf Tournament will take place at The Royal Golf Club on 10th October. A Gala event will be held on 25th October.

“We live in a world now, in which many people we know have or are going through breast cancer diagnosis or treatment. We have moved from a taboo word within our local discourse to numerous young entrepreneurs- men and women, supporting in October and throughout the year,” Sprackel says.

What is Bahrain Bricks?

Bahrain Bricks was founded by two retired US Military officers, David Robinson and Eugene Hart in 2021. “The initial concept was to produce products utilizing building blocks to create iconic educational kits that would relate to Bahrain’s traditional and social values. This allows us to give back to the community,” says Robinson.

The bricks are intended to represent the creativity and solidarity of Bahrain’s community. Each piece symbolizes the support structures built around those affected by breast cancer, reflecting a continuous commitment to education and prevention.
