Bahrain Summer Festival: All the performances you can watch

The 13th edition of the Bahrain Summer Festival is back for an entire month with a diverse selection of online events and activities inviting you to join the cultural movement this summer – with a click of a button from the safety of your homes!

From the 1st until the 31st of July, 2021, the Bahrain Summer returns to showcase the connective force of culture and the arts, and continues to highlight local and regional family-friendly events with something special for seekers of joy and fun of every age.

July 1-31

Resto Maryam
Genre: Theatre

The play recounts the story of an ambitious man named Jerome who proves himself through his work at a restaurant called Resto Maryam, stirring jealousy in his colleague Majid who enviously decides to harm Jerome. The truth ultimately reveals itself and leads to the conclusion that love and forgiveness cure jealousy and envy.

Produced by the OM2 – Le Theatre de Gisele, the play aims to educate kids on virtues like ambition, determination, honesty and charity, as well as celebrate humanitarian and ethical values through messages that call for giving, respect and cooperation.

Chinese Folk Music Medley
Genre: Music

This performance offers a mixture of traditional and modern styles played on traditional Chinese musical instruments such as the Guqin, Guzheng and Xiao.

Tony Memmel and His Band          
Genre: Music

Singer-songwriter Tony Memmel and his band from Nashville lead an inspiring virtual concert combining new and well-loved songs that all members of the family can sing and dance along to! Although born without a left forearm, Tony Memmel learned to play the guitar and now performs all around the world.

Awlad Haretna
Genre: Educational Program

This educational program teaches children about the State of Palestine and its heritage through stories, traditional foods, ancient collectibles and historical monuments presented by a group of dolls and children. This program is produced by Palestine TV.

Wonders of Science
Genre: Educational Program

This educational program presents the wonders of various scientific information on the seas, oceans, space, animals and plants, in addition to short segments of scientific experiments presented by young children. This program is produced by Palestine TV.

Rehab Metawi accompanied by the Bahrain Music Band
Genre: Music

Egyptian singer Rehab Metwai accompanies the Bahrain Music Band for a nostalgic performance of the most beautiful Arabic classical tunes.

July 21 

Qalali Folk Band
Genre: Traditional Folklore

The band transfers their particular heritage, one born in Muharraq’s village of Qalali, to the world through their continuous participation at local and international events. The century-old band performs authentic songs, dances and rhythms that revolve around Bahrain’s rich history that is inseparable from marine life.

July 22

Mohammed bin Faris Band
Genre: Traditional Folklore

Consisting of elite musicians from distinguished folk music groups, the band performs various traditional songs part of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s cultural heritage. What characterizes their performances from other folk groups is their focus on genres that recall the nation’s pearling past.

July 23

Bahrain Police Band
Genre: Music

Led by Dr. Mubarak Najem, one of the most prominent composers in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the greater Arab world alike, the band participates in royal ceremonies, military and popular celebrations. The music they perform is a blend of sounds, namely military and traditional Bahraini music.
