Bahrain records its highest Covid-19 fatalities since the start of the pandemic

Bahrain on Monday recorded 28 new Covid-19-related deaths, the highest number of daily deaths in the Kingdom since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The deaths were recorded among seven male citizens aged 90, 72, 62, 67, 33, 50 and 48; nine female citizens aged 80, 72, 70, 63, 50, 42, 63, 48 and 63; nine male expats aged 34, 44, 70, 55, 52, 38, 59, 56 and 62; three female expats aged 33, 45 and 49.

Out of 19,951 COVID-19 tests carried out on 24 May 2021, 2,800 new cases have been detected among 1,016 expats. 1,761 are contacts and 23 travel related.

There were 1,800 recoveries, increasing total recoveries to 196,685.

There are currently 205 cases in critical condition, and 349 receiving treatment. 23,109 are stable out of a total of 23,314 active cases.

According to the ministry, 24 (85.7%) of the 28 deaths recorded yesterday were among unvaccinated patients.

The ministry calls on residents and citizens to register for their vaccination and booster shots.
