Bahrain: No dedicated parking lots for amateur fishing boats!

The Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning rejected the Muharraq Municipal Council’s recommendation to make use of unused spaces in the Governorate and lease them as parking lots for amateurs’ boats at a nominal fee.

He pointed out that the refusal comes due to the limited spaces allocated for services and public facilities in residential neighbourhoods and the crucial need to provide various public services and a large number of car parks to meet the needs of the people in residential areas.

He indicated that the responsibility for providing designated places for amateur fishing boats rests with their owners, and that it is possible to coordinate directly with the General Traffic Department in the event of violations in boats that cause obstruction to traffic.
