Bahrain extends 50% of Bahrainis’ salary payment in coronavirus impacted sectors

Bahrain’s government is extending payment of 50 percent of Bahraini citizens’ salaries working in parts of the private sector impacted by coronavirus crisis until the end of the year, a cabinet statement said on Monday.

The Council of Ministers approved the payment of 50% of the salaries of a total of 524 workers in kindergartens and nurseries from a period of 3 months starting from October 2020.

The cabinet decided to extend the wage subsidy provided by the Labor Fund (Tamkeen) for an additional 3 months, starting from October 2020 and 300 dinars per month to support 950 taxi drivers, buses and public transport drivers and 829 driving instructors who are not insured.

The Cabinet also decided to exempt tourist facilities from paying tourism fees for an additional 3 months, starting from October 2020.
